Steps to End Violence Against Women

DSC_0008Interim Place hosted its 3rd annual Steps to End Violence Against Women—a walk to honour and remember 22 women that lost their lives to violence over the last 7 years.
Opening remarks from Rick Hawes of the Peel Regional Police were followed by a vigil for Anita Summan, a Brampton woman who was murdered this year.
The vigil was followed by a 3 km walk to the original site of Interim Place, the Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens. Events like this walk are crucial in continuing to create awareness about the ongoing issue of violence against women and children in Canada, while supporting the community efforts of Interim Place.
